Technology Industry Looking Up

Now that the US technology industry appears to be rebounding from its long slump, the demand for technology talent is on the upswing. Business Week reports that in 2006 the industry will have its best year since 2000, creating 217,000 jobs. In fact, the IT job market has improved to the point where there is likely to be a shortage of CIOs, CTO's and other top IT talent this year, according to a new survey from the Association of Executive Search Consultants.

But it's not only IT executives who stand to benefit, there are also many mid-level IT professionals needed - and many jobs that are proving to be resistant to moving offshore, according to industry analysts. For example, application development experts are once again in demand, especially those with EAI, .Net, Java, Web applications, ERP and CRM skills. Infrastructure jobs such as security experts, data modelers, network managers and engineers, software engineers, disaster recovery specialists and system auditors are also likely to find continued onshore demand for their skills.
